Obituary for Charlotte Smith Hoover
Charlotte Smith Hoover, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 4, 2017.
Services for Ms. Hoover will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Charlotte was born January 20, 1943, to the late Basil and Helen Crockett Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Crockett Slaughter.
Charlotte retired from the Franklin County Board of Education. She enjoyed her time working in the Message Center at the Legislative Research Commission for numerous years where she worked with other dedicated and well-respected public servants relaying messages from concerned citizens of this great Commonwealth to the appropriate legislator. She was an avid UK fan, enjoyed flower gardening, caring for her well-loved cats, and working as a volunteer at the Franklin County Humane Society. Charlotte was a clogging enthusiast performing with groups throughout the Bluegrass Region and taught clogging through the Franklin County Community Education system for many years.
She loved her family and was a devoted mother to daughter, Kimberly A. Hoover and son, Gregory A. Hoover. Charlotte was blessed by her niece and nephew, Donna Hammons and, Don Allen Slaughter, Jr.; great nieces, Jennifer Landrum, Nicole Logan; great nephew, Allen Slaughter; and extended family of special nieces and nephews.
