Frankfort – Narvilla Carolyn Chism Woody, age 92, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Colston officiating. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018. Ms. Woody was born in Bagdad, Kentucky, on December 8, 1925, to the late Boyd Chism and Carrie Allison Chism. She was a long-time, active member of Memorial Baptist Church, where she spent approximately 10 years serving as a secretary, and after, continued to enjoy taking part in church activities. She graduated from Bald Knob High School and attended Carson-Newman College. Ms. Woody retired from Kentucky State Government Department of Human Resources after working 30 years as a Word Processor. She enjoyed attending water exercise classes at the YMCA. With a love for going to the beach, she was a former resident of Lynn Haven, Florida. She was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan. Despite her age, she enjoyed time spent on the computer and social media, in which she was proficient. Above all, she had a contagious smile that never faded. She is survived by her children, Jane Turner Bryan (Phil), of Frankfort and Janice Lee Dobson (Randy), of South Korea; step-children, Troy Woody, Jr., (Rhonda), of Frankfort, Roger Bivens, of Frankfort, Glenda Woody (Gary Lee), of Frankfort, and Carolyn Sue Woody McGehee (Dave Kinnaird), of Taylorsville; siblings, Melvin Chism (Gail) of Tucson, Arizona and Mary Sue Chism Mills Dyer, of Glen Haven, Colorado; granddaughter, Lauren Dobson Murray (Jimmy), of Tampa, Florida; and beloved friend, whom she loved like a sister, Ann Clark, of Southport, Florida. She was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Adrian L. Turner and by her second husband, Troy Lee Woody; and her siblings, Marvin Chism, Arvin Chism, Novella Chism Bender, and Sylvia Chism Victor. Serving as pallbearers will be, Randy Dobson, Clay Baxter, David Thomas, Troy Woody, Jr., Gary Lee, and Roger Bivens. The family would like to extend a warm acknowledgment to Cathy Spencer and the staff at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, Extended Care Health Professionals, Kindred At Home, and Capital Plaza Hotel for their sincere and heartfelt care-giving shown towards Ms. Woody. A sincere thanks is extended to the family and friends who have provided support and love during this difficult time.
