Mary Alice Hamilton

Mary Alice Armstrong Hamilton, widow of Landon B. Hamilton, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 16, 2019. Services for Mary Alice will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Bill Hartung will officiate assisted by Rev. Todd Lester. Burial will follow in Frankfort Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, from 12 noon until the service at 2:00 p.m. Mary Alice was born July 24, 1923 to John L. Armstrong and Alice Kring Armstrong. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1941. After graduating she moved to Louisville to attend Bryant Stratton Business College. She then worked in the offices of Consolidated Vultee where commercial airplanes were modified into war planes for World War II. Mary Alice later worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Most of her government career was at the Transportation Office of General Counsel. She retired after nearly 40 years of service. Mary Alice was a life long member of Thornhill Baptist Church. She had recently joined the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. Mary Alice was a selfless and devoted mother and grandmother, who was dearly loved by her family. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Dawson (Gary) and Kathy Rogers (Barry); three grandchildren, Hillary Wilder (Brent), Jenny Lafferty (Harry), and Adam Rogers. Also surviving are nine great grandchildren, Corey Rogers, Madison Wilder (Nathan Barnett), Isabella Wilder, Kaylin Lafferty, Logan Rogers, Barrett Wilder, Kassidy Wilder, Kelsie Lafferty and Keaton Wilder. Also, one great-great granddaughter, Shaelynn Barnett and a special niece, Reeda Yancey. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Armstrong and her baby sister Sara Jane Armstrong. Mary Alice’s favorite times were spent with her family especially celebrating all of the many birthdays and holidays. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank her two wonderful caregivers, Mary Cull and Regina Lewis. Pallbearers will be Barry Rogers, Gary Dawson, Adam Rogers, Corey Rogers, Brent Wilder and Harry Lafferty. Honorary bearers will be her great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Forks of Elkhorn Building Fund or charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
