Ansel Jerome Jewell

Frankfort " Buck, 89, died peacefully and went to meet the Lord on December 25, 2011. Born May 7, 1922, he was the child of Viola and Claud Jewell. He is survived by one sister, Waldine (Kirtley) Green, and one brother Emery (Phyllis) Jewell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Gladys Cade (sister), Wilbert Jewell (brother) and one child lost in child-birth. Buck is survived by his wife, Barbara Jewell, one daughter, Fran (Michael) Luscher; three granddaughters, Amy (Scott) Smith, Jenny Luscher and Cindy (John) McCann; four great grandchildren, Hannah Smith, Ben Smith, Sophie Smith and Emilee McCann; one stepdaughter, Ginger (Greg) Ford; two step grandchildren, Brooke (Keith) Parker and Logan (Rebecca) Ford; two step great grandchildren, Isaiah and Makayla Parker and former wife, Marian Jewell. Born in Spencer County, Buck and his family were farmers and moved to the Bridgeport area early in his life. He entered the Marines in World War II and served until 1944. His farming days continued until he joined Felix Poole in Frankfort as a carpenter�s apprentice. He learned his trade from this wonderful man and continued to build residential and commercial buildings the rest of his life. He co-owned with Louis Arnold "Residential Builders� and later on his own worked as "Jewell Construction Company� until he semi-retired. He had his plumber�s and electrician�s license and was also a HVAC tech. His wish was to work until the day he died. His love of the Lord, nature and working were his passions. He served as Deacon in the Evergreen Baptist Church and was for years the young men�s Sunday School teacher in the Church. After the tornado in 1974, Buck repaired and rebuilt so many churches in the area he was nicknamed "The Little Church Builder�. He sang in the choir of the church even though he said his voice only made a joyful noise. He lived his Christian life each day with dedication and love. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter with gun and bow. He was passionate about everything in his life. His last hunting experiences were taking pictures of these magnificent animals instead of using a gun. He loved to be out and about and to share his experiences with everyone, especially with a joke. Services for Buck will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Weaver and Rev. Lee "BB� Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home Wednesday beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the service.
