Arthur Neville Sheets

Services for Arthur Neville Sheets, 88, of Elizabeth Street, will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jay Stratton officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Harrod Brothers. Burial with military honors will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County. Mr. Sheets passed away December 31, 2015, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. A native of Frankfort, Neville was born December 25, 1927. He was the youngest of 12 children. He retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church. He was a Private First Class in the Armed Forces of the United States. He was a pioneer in October 1999, when he was the first patient at the Frankfort Regional Hospital to receive an internal cardiac defibrillator. He adored his family, loved music, singing, flowers, and he enjoyed travelling. He spent this Thanksgiving on Hilton Head Island with his family and went to Hawaii for two weeks in 2014. He was such a positive person with an amazing outlook on life. He was so grateful for everything. As his great grandson, Roen Wiley Burress said, "He was the sweetest person you would ever meet in your life." No truer words were ever spoken. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his two daughters, Dianne (Jim) Sheets Carr and Vicki Sheets; one granddaughter, Leigh (Ricky) Taylor Wiley Burress and one great grandson, Roen Wiley Burress. He was the son of the late Ira and Clara Sheets and was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Provie Elizabeth Cox Sheets and all of his brothers and sisters. Bearers will be Ricky Burress, Roen Burress, Chris Lynch, Kevin Gilbert, Chris Brooks, Neil Weixlmann, Steve Weixlmann and Daniel Durham. Honorary bearers will be Leigh Taylor Wiley Burress, Glenda and Barry Lynch, Guy and Elsie Gilbert, Brittany Gilbert, Kelly Gilbert, Deborah and John Yost, Marjorie Yost, Eric Yost, Don Sheets, David Muncie, Sara Beth Milton Brooks and Zoe Butler. Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Arthur Neville Sheets to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
