Bro. Billy S. Perkins

Frankfort – Billy Sheldon Perkins, age 79, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019, in Frankfort. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jay Stratton and Rev. Tim Jumpp officiating. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019. Born August 18, 1939, to the late Stephen Sheldon Perkins and Clara Bell Graham Perkins, Billy spent a life dedicated to spreading the word of God. A Pastor for many years, he served at Peaks Mill Baptist Church and Bellepoint Community Church, as well as assisted in many churches throughout the community. He was a Veteran of the Kentucky National Guard. Billy loved sports, especially University of Kentucky and Franklin County sports. A lifelong coach, he had a passion for working with the children of the community. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He retired as the Chief Electric State Fire Marshall, after serving many years with Kentucky State Government. Before his retirement, he worked for Cunningham Electric and later on, Ancient Age Distillery. He was a member of the Franklin County School Board for 12 years, as well as the IBEW Local 369. With a talent for crafts, Billy enjoyed making birdhouses alongside his wife. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Mary E. “Liz” Hutchison, William “Bill” Harrison Hutchison, Ancil Ray Hutchison, Stephen Sheldon Perkins, and Stewart Scott Perkins; sister, Patricia Brewer; sister-in-law, Patricia “Trish” Ann Florian; brothers-in-law, Billy Mills and Joseph Florian; and numerous beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ida Elizabeth Mills Perkins; son, Alva Ray Collins; and sister, Barbara Wagoner. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Frankfort Regional Medical Center and Bluegrass Hospice Care for their compassion, love and great care shown to Billy. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
