Donald Ray Jones

Frankfort " Donald Ray Jones, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Services for Mr. Jones will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. with Evangelist Robert L. Hutcherson officiating. Burial and military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday, October 29, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mr. Jones was born in Lockport, Kentucky on February 6, 1935, to the late Dewey Florence and Evelyn Tingle Jones. His wife of 61 years, Barbara Harrod Jones, passed away May 2014. They were united in marriage at Choateville Christian Church where they remained active members all their lives. He served as deacon and together they worked as sponsors of the church youth programs and activities. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Mr. Jones was a machinist and retired from IBM. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, yardwork, reading with his favorite subjects being history and westerns. He was a devoted fan of UK sports. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Russell Jones and a daughter, Barbara Diane Jones. He leaves behind his daughters, Donna M. Jones and Lisa G. Glass (William G.) and his brother, William L. Jones. He was a loving grandfather to grandchildren, Donald Scott Jones (Erin), Andrea N. Jones, Eugene Douglas Blair IV, Emily M. Harris (Aric), Stephanie L. Jones, Katherine D. Estes (Brent), Amanda L. Glass and William Jacob Glass; and great-grandchildren, Arika, Abby and Kevin Osbourne, Alexander D., Isabella R., Gabriel X. Hatchell and Zachary L. Estes, Domanic, Quorra A. and David R. Harris, Rylee E. Glass, Samantha E. and William R. Jones and Tyler Lancaster. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Jones, Eugene Blair, William J. Glass, Aric Harris, Brent Estes, Dwayne Wright, Tyler Lancaster and Craig Conway. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be sent to the Choateville Christian Church Building Fund or Kitchen Pantry. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
