Frank Lynn Yeast

Frankfort " Frank Lynn Yeast, 84, passed away February 27th, 2012, at home following a long illness. Born in Mercer County December 4th, 1927, he was the youngest child of Dan and Mattie Patterson Yeast. Frank graduated from Harrodsburg High School. He entered the United States Army and served in the Military Police as a motorcycle officer, in Trieste, Italy during the Korean War. After his military service, Frank moved to Frankfort and went to work for Kawneer-a factory that made parts for airplanes. He met the love of his life, Janice, in January 1953. Married in August of that year, Frank started working for his brother "Tasty� in the Palm Meat Shop. He worked in his brother�s shop for 3 years, then accepted a job with South Central Bell in 1956. Frank retired as a cable repairman after 30 years of service with the company he fondly referred to as "Ma Ding-A-Ling.� A master craftsman, Frank enjoyed working with many friends and relatives to repair and create new projects such as go-carts, unicycles, etc. He was a life member of Hiram Lodge #4F&AM, life member of the VFW, past member of Crestwood Baptist Church and current member of First Baptist Church at the Singing Bridge. He is survived by his wife, Janice Smith Yeast; daughter, Marty May (Bill); grandchildren, Zackary May, Kathryn May, David May and Charles May. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Mattie Patterson Yeast; two sisters, Rosalyn ("Hick�) Cammack, Myrtie D. (Hillary) Sanders and three brothers, David Yeast, D.G. "Tasty� Yeast and Minor B. Yeast. Funeral services for Frank will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Dr. Bob Browning and Rev. Dan Crawley will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a masonic service at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Bearers will be Zackary May, David May, Charles May, Donnie Ray Smith, Louis Luckett and Wayne Moore. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Lynn Cammack, Mark Champion, John Sammons, Michael Simms and Pat Simms. Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
