Gary David Dean

Gary David Dean, 62, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at his home in Frankfort surrounded by family following a long and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Frankfort, Gary is survived by his parents Alma Dean and George Dean. Gary is also survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy, a son, David Dean (fiancee Camille Collins) a daughter, Lee Ann Dean; sister, Donna Morris; two nephews Tony Cline and Jeffrey Cline; a great nephew, Derek Cline and a great niece, Kaitlynn Cline. He was a 1965 graduate of Franklin County High School. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kentucky State University and a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University. He retired from IBM in 1993 and went on to become the Comptroller for KCTCS retiring in 2005. After retiring, he combined his business skills and his love for the game of golf by starting Duckers Lake Golf Club Fitting and Repair Shop with his son. He also served as Door Keeper for the Kentucky General Assembly. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 " 8 pm at the Harrod Brother�s Funeral Home in Frankfort. A celebration of Life Service will also be conducted at the funeral home at 1:00 pm on Monday followed by a private graveside service at Frankfort Cemetery where Hospice Chaplain, Kevin A. Pearce, will officiate. After the graveside service, family and friends are invited to a gathering to be held at the Clubhouse located at Duckers Lake Golf Resort. Bearers will be Harold Robinson, C.R. Wheeler, Ron Miller, Chris Doane, Tony Cline and Jeffrey Cline. Honorary bearers will be Bill Pulliam and the Duckers Lake Golf Staff, Dr. Richard C. Hayden and Rita Clark. His family is so appreciative for the compassionate care he received from Franklin County Home Health and the Hospice of the Bluegrass. We also wish to thank Dr. Rachel Harper and Nurse Liz Pinion. Also a special thanks to everyone for their prayers, cards, gestures of kindness, flowers, gifts of food, and expressions of love and concern during Gary�s illness. Gary was a beloved son, loving husband and nurturing father. He was also a wonderful friend who will be greatly missed by many.
