Gladys Goins

Gladys Goins Frankfort- Services for Gladys Baker Goins, 87 yrs., of Frankfort, will be conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 with Marc Manley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford, Co. Visitation will be Monday, January 25, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center, Lexington, following an illness. A native of Franklin County, she was born, June 7, 1922, and retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse. During her nursing career she worked for the Frankfort State Hospital and School, Hurst Snyder Hospital and Mount Mary Hospital, both in Hazard, Ky, Stumbo Memorial, Stumbo, Ky, Mary Mount Hospital, London, Ky, Corbin Memorial Hospital, Corbin, Ky, and Kings Daughters Hospital, Frankfort, Ky. She also was a former employee of Schenley Distillery in Frankfort, Ky. Mrs. Goins was a member of the Practical Nurses Association and the Fellowship Christian Church. She is survived by her daughters, Dean L. Minnix and Elinda L. Manley, both of Frankfort; her brother, Joseph Allen (Billy) Baker, Frankfort; step-daughters, Anna Goins Haydon, Shelbyville, Wilma Landrum Shryock, Lawrenceburg, and Mildred Landrum Sizemore, Corbin; step-son, Sherman "Butch� Landrum Jr., Frankfort; granddaughters, Diana C. Tice, Kathy Manley, both of Frankfort, Lynn Stephens, Versailles and Diana Robinson, Louisville; grandsons, James Marcus Manley, Lexington, Wesley Allen Crosthwaite, Eddie Haydon and Joe Haydon, all of Frankfort; three great granddaughters, three great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Goins was the widow of Edward D. "Eddie� Goins and was the daughter of the late James Allen "Pop� and Kathryn Elizabeth "Mom� Jennings Baker and was also preceded by her brothers, Murray Alfred Baker, Duard Lewis Baker, and her sister, Edna Ruth Smith. Pallbearers will be Ron Minnix, Joe Manley, Wesley Crosthwaite, James Marcus Manley, Carl Landrum and Eddie Haydon. Honorary bearers will be Jim Morris, Mike Harrod Joe Heady, Wayne Landrum, Dudley Shryock and Donnie Sizemore.
