Hearley Clayton Crabtree

Frankfort - Hearley Clayton Crabtree, age 83, passed away on June 18, 2025, at his home. Funeral services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, 312 Washington Street, Frankfort, Kentucky, on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with his nephew Rev. Bruce Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow at the Bagdad Cemetery. Military honors will be observed at the gravesite by the VFW Post 4075. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Mr. Crabtree is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Martha Shryock Crabtree. He is also survived by his daughter, Lauren Franecki (Rick) of New Berlin, Wisconsin; his son, Russell Crabtree (Lisa) of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; and his daughter, Karen Crabtree Bergman of Frankfort, as well as, his grandchildren: Sarah, Katie, Jillian, and Kevin. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Jane Hamlin, and by a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Mr. Crabtree was born August 6, 1941, on Rock Creek, Fentress County, Tennessee, to the late Claude Bascom Crabtree and Lydia Goodman Crabtree. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Vera Welker, Jeanette Fulton, Judy Crabtree, Linda King, Stella Crabtree, Ruby Crabtree, and Nellie Burtschy; his brothers: Claude Crabtree Jr., Sam Crabtree, Charles Crabtree, Luther Crabtree, Sherman “Ted” Crabtree, and Russell Crabtree. Mr. Crabtree retired from the City of Frankfort, where he worked as an electrician. He also worked for many years as a service technician for 3M. He was a proud veteran of the Army and also served in the Kentucky Army National Guard. He was a life member of VFW Post 4075 and a member of American Legion Post 34. He loved the outdoors, especially the woods, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid reader and an excellent storyteller. He liked music, country music in particular, and used to sing along with his favorite songs on the radio to the delight of his children when they were small. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to caregivers Heather and Summer for their expert, compassionate, “above and beyond” assistance in Mr. Crabtree’s final days. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
