Hubert Custer Hoover

Hubert C. Hoover, aged 93, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Hubert was born on January 24, 1923 to the late George W. and Pearl Hutcherson Hoover. He is survived by his wife, Delma Brown Hoover and his daughter Nancy (Alan) Hamilton; his grandchildren, Kate, Alison, and Garrett Hamilton; one great granddaughter, Teagan Rein; and a step-daughter, Liz Norris, all of Frankfort. He is also survived by two sisters, Maxine Devers, of Frankfort and Jacqueline Devers, of California; several nieces and nephews, Carole Hulette (James Harry) Wilson and their children, Jennie Tassity, Emily Wilson and Harry Wilson; George Hoover; Kim Hoover; Greg Hoover; and a very special nephew Doyle (Kim) Devers and their children Ashley Peyton and David Alan Devers. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Harwood, Newton, Lillis and Darrell Hoover, two sisters, Lela Hulette and Marilyn Davis and three nephews, Jay Devers, Jeffrey Devers and Butch Hoover. Mr. Hoover began his work career on the family dairy. In his late teens and early twenty''s he worked as a school bus driver for Bald Knob School, the county road department, on a gasoline river barge for a company based in Cincinnati, and at the Stagg Distillery. He also worked for the State Police as security guard, from which he retired after sixteen years. He was a lifelong farmer raising tobacco, hay and continuing a herd of cattle that originated from the first 12 cows he bought in the early 1950''s. Hubert was also an avid fisherman. The service will be conducted on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Rev Dale Wethington. Visitation will be April 6, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Garrett Hamilton, Lee Weber, Gary Mitchell, David Alan Devers, Earl Weber, and Charles Doane. Honorary will be Pete Penn, Kenny Thurman, Doyle Devers, Alan Hamilton, Greg Hoover, George Hoover, and Scott Hoover. In lieu of flowers, expression of Sympathy may be made to your charity of choice.
