Jack Travis

Frankfort – Jack Roland Travis, age 92, husband of Doris Anderson Travis, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:30 in the morning. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 2:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. Jack was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on August 18, 1932, to the late Charles Shelby Travis and Martha Thomas Tandy Travis. He graduated as one of the “lucky dozen” from what he referred to as the University of Bridgeport in Frankfort. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. In 1956, he married Doris Anderson and they began their family together. He worked as a barber at Bill Moore’s Barber Shop for several years, and then worked for 30 years as a Letter Carrier with the U.S Postal Service, eventually retiring in 2000. Jack loved big and enjoyed spending time with his large family, his friends, and his and Doris’s beloved West Highland Terriers. He also loved being Santa year-round and had a passion for buying, selling, and trading antiques. Jack loved to learn new things and this curious spirit led him to many adventures including hang gliding, rappelling, artistic endeavors, and traveling. With his caring spirit and wisdom, he supported his immediate and extended families and friends without hesitation. He was known for his quick wit and his willingness to help anybody, anytime. In addition to his wife of 69 years, Jack will be missed by his daughters, Stacy Travis Moore (Larry) and Stephanie Travis Cassidy (Paul); his grandchildren, Lauren Moore Milligan (Brad), Aidan Travis Cassidy, and Eva Claire Travis Cassidy; his great-granddaughter, Olivia Rose Milligan; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; and, of course, his many cherished friends. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Roland Travis and his nine siblings: sister Helen Louise Aldridge, and brothers Kenneth Shelby, William Douglas, Charles Louis, Leroy Keaton, Billy Ray, Shirley Wayne, Zane Gray, and Lloyd Coleman (The Travis Boys). Jack’s nieces and nephews will serve as his pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherman Morton, Sr., Linda Robey, William C. Middleton, and Freddie Goins.
