James Edward Daniel

James Daniel Frankfort- Services for James E. Daniel, 86 yrs., of Frankfort, will be conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 with Rev. Roger Outler officiating. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2009 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Daniel passed away peacefully on February 10, 2010, after living a happy and full life. He was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, the son of devoted Freewill Baptists, Ransom and Sola Daniel, Paintsville, and was the younger brother of Charles Daniel, Sarasota, FL, all predeceased. Family members remaining are his beloved and devoted wife, Arline; his adoring children, Lynn Cruz-Paul (Rick Paul), James E. Daniel II (Annie), both of Frankfort, Jennifer Baker (Johnny), Memphis, TN, and Jodi Rushing (Jeff), Homosassa Springs, FL; grandchildren, Rob Hill (Cindy), Derrick Hill (Jennifer), both of Frankfort, Regina Brown (Eric), Radcliff, KY, Erin Baker Neville (Kevin) and Emily Baker, both Memphis, TN, and Danielle Rushing, Crystal River, FL; great grandchildren, Eric Brown, Erika Brown, Jaxson Hill and Conner Hill. James was a veteran of World War II, serving honorably in the U.S. Navy in the South Seas� Marianna Islands and witnessed the flight of the Enola Gay. He returned after the war to a thirty-five year career with Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Paintsville and Frankfort. He retired to Homosassa Springs, FL, where he lived in paradise for fifteen years with his loving wife and best friend, Arline. They returned to Frankfort and have lived here happily for the past fifteen years. He was always soft-spoken, honest, kind and considerate to everyone he met, and will be remembered with great love and gratitude by all that knew him. As an avid power boater and aviation enthusiast, he hand-built numerous boats that he raced in the early years and later on, tooled around in the states� lakes and rivers with his family. He rebuilt numerous airplanes that he flew as a private pilot. He never overcame the urge to look up and identify a passing plane, a passion he honed as a child in Paintsville. He was a jack of all trades and a master craftsman, skills that he passed on to the benefit of his children. Pallbearers will be Derrick Hill, Rob Hill, Jim Daniel, Annie Daniel, Rick Paul and George Renfro. Honorary bearer will be Robert Hall, Johnny Baker and Jeff Rushing. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to a charity of choice in remembrance of Mr. Daniel.
