James H. Disney Frankfort " James Henry Disney, 84, 703 Bradley Street, Frankfort, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Veterans Hospice Facility on Leestown Road in Lexington, KY with complications due to melanoma. James was born in Tway, Harlan County, KY, September 16, 1923. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anna B. Cheek Disney; a son, James Robert Disney (Cha), Colorado; a daughter, Jean Disney McCoy (Bill), Frankfort; a stepson, Brian McElroy (Denise), Florida; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and four step grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Marcum, Middlesboro, KY, Helen Smith, TN and Georgia (Walter) Losee, FL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Cross Disney; his parents, Nola Reeves and Jess Disney; a sister, Mae Disney Bennett and a stepson, Randy McElroy. James graduated from Hall High School in Harlan County, KY; graduated from Union College and received his Master�s degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He served with the 3rd Battalion, "L� Company, 4th Marine Division in WWII. He received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained on Sai Pan. He taught school at Hall High School in Harlan County for 10 years before moving to Frankfort. He worked for the Department of Education and served as Supervisor of Industrial Arts Programs throughout the state. He served several offices in the Frankfort Boat Club and was a member of the VFW Post 4075 and DAV. James� hobbies included boating, reading, gardening and camping. He looked forward to family get-to-gathers. He especially looked forward each year to attend the "L� Company reunions. He was much loved by his family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Book of Remembrance at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, 224 Steele Street, Frankfort, KY or the American Cancer Society. Private family committal services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Frankfort Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008 at South Frankfort Presbyterian Church.
