Jane Carpenter

Frankfort - Jane Ellen Marshall Carpenter passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 66 years old. Services will be held at North Frankfort Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at North Frankfort Baptist Church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. service time on Wednesday. Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, and bravely fought the battle. In 2004, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She courageously, with strength from her Lord and Savior Jesus, fought this battle for 19 years. Jane was affectionately known as “Mamaw” by her three grandchildren, Addison Hope, Avery Grace, and Weston Phillip. She enjoyed spending all her free time with her grandchildren and her only daughter Stephanie and her son-in-law Phillip. Jane was born in 1956, in Maysville, Kentucky to William Howard and Joyce Burton Marshall. Her family moved to Frankfort in 1964, where she became a lifelong resident. She was a faithful member of North Frankfort Baptist Church and enjoyed her weekly women’s bible study class. She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Champion, son-in-law, Phillip Champion, granddaughters, Addison Hope Champion and Avery Grace Champion, grandson, Weston Phillip Champion, mother, Joyce Burton Marshall, sisters, Sue Porter (Kevin) and Leeann May (Ricky), nephews, Justin Gortney, Brian May (Corie), and Eric May, former spouse and longtime friend, John Carpenter and several great nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Howard Marshall Jr., father, William Howard Marshall, niece, Rebecca Jordan Gortney, grandparents, Lawson Burton, Arlia Dodson Burton, Jess Marshall, Myrtle Brown Marshall and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to North Frankfort Baptist Church, 7945 Owenton Road, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
