Frankfort – Janice Carol Montfort Johnson, age 76, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lee Meadows officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Janice was born in Frankfort on September 17, 1949, to the late Dallas Clarence Montfort and Edna Mae Hammond Whisman. She retired from General Electric and served as a bus monitor for Franklin County Schools for 17 years. Janice was a member of Capital City Christian Church. More than anything, she loved being a mother and grandmother and believed that her children and grandchildren were a gift from her Lord and Savior. Her life was never the same after the birth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and had a completely full heart of love for them. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, “Granny,” and friend. She is survived by her sons, David Toles (Susan), Eddie Scott Toles (Missy), and Larry E. Toles (Ellen); daughter, Rebecca Toles; sisters, Bonnie Gaines and Brenda Toles Taulbee (Gary); grandchildren, Brandon Toles (Erica), Kris Toles (Kellee), Jacob Toles (Sarah), Ashley Freire (Matt), Jaron Hayden (Jessica), Hayli Hayden, Alex Welch, Annabeth Toles, James Toles, and Jacob Toles; great-grandchildren, Landon Toles, Aiden Toles, Braxtyn Hayden, Braelyn Hayden, Peyton Toles, Carson Toles, Mia Freire, and Frankie Freire; and by several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with all of her special friends from over the years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Whisman. Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Toles, Kris Toles, Jacob Toles, Jaron Hayden, Landon Toles, and Aiden Toles. Honorary pallbearers will be James Toles, Braxtyn Hayden, Braylen Hayden, Carson Toles, Frankie Freire, Ashley Freire, Hayli Hayden, Alex Welch, Annabeth Toles, Mia Freire, and Gary Taulbee. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Dream Factory Louisville, Ronald McDonald House Lexington, or Chairty of Choice for Children. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
