Jennifer Kathryn Rutherford, 34, of Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following an acute illness, surrounded by the love of her family. A memorial service will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2026. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born on October 29, 1991, in Frankfort, Jennifer lived a life filled with compassion, laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, whether through a shared meal, a heartfelt conversation, or simply her presence. Her quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Brenda (Daniel) Rutherford and Bobby Rutherford, both of Frankfort; her maternal grandfather, Lawrence Daniel; several beloved aunts and uncles; and her cherished four-legged companion, Jax, who unexpectedly passed away just one day before his beloved mom. She is survived by her biological son, Brayden James Roberts, and her son, Mason Glenn Rutherford; her fiancé, Michael Robert Parrish; her sister, Ashley Mefford (Josh) of Lawrenceburg; her nieces, Kenzi Mefford and Georgia Lynn Mefford; and her nephew, Memphis Mefford, all of Lawrenceburg. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Betty Daniel of Frankfort; her paternal grandmother, Mildred Rutherford of Frankfort; her uncle, Michael Daniels (Patricia); her aunts, Betty Joyce Cook (Bill) and Charlene Daniels; as well as numerous cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Jennifer will be remembered most for her fierce love of family, her compassionate heart, and her unmistakable appreciation for 1990s country music. She found peace and happiness outdoors and never met an animal she didn't want to save. As a child, she earned the nickname "Little Miss Dr. Dolittle" because she was constantly bringing home stray animals and creatures in need of care. That nurturing spirit remained with her throughout her life and touched both people and animals alike. Jennifer's absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her. Yet her laughter, kindness, and the countless memories she created will continue to live on through her children, family, and friends. Her life was a blessing, her love was a gift, and her memory will be cherished forever. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be performed in Jennifer's memory or that donations be made to a local animal rescue organization, reflecting her lifelong love for animals.
