Joann Dean

Joann Wood Dean, 82, of Frankfort, Kentucky, went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 23. She was the beloved mother of seven children; Donald Willard (Ruth), Desi Howard (Terry), Connie Camden (Clifford), Sandy Willard (Peggy), Rhonda Stevenson (Scott), Kitty Spradling (Matt Stevens), Joy Downey (Shane). She was “Granny Jo” to 19 grandchildren, Ashley Hughes (Seth), Kymberley New (Trevor), Jessica Douthitt (Michael), Keith Parrish (Jeanne), Kevin Parrish (Chelsea), Martin Milton (Chasity), Jessica Camden, Heather Butler (Tyler), Andrew Willard, Jacob Willard (Mary), Alan Nicol, Emma Grace Stevenson, Brandon Meriwether (Cascinda), Donnie Morrow, McKenna Kilgore (Keaton), Kris Jones (Amanda), Katie Grimes, Patrick Downey, Eric Downey (Haley); 30 great grandchildren, Haven Bellman (Chris), Lauren Walters, Annabelle Hughes, Luella and Willow New, Ava Douthitt, Lilly and Chloe Parrish, Lakrissa Milton, Caden Roell, Jett and Asher Gamble, Makenzi and Adriel Butler, Phoenix Willard, Chelsea and Landon Cottrell, Kaylee Durbin, Emma and Kinsley Meriwether, Roman Morrow, Amyiah Fuller, Elise Kilgore, Skarlet, Gabriel and Millie Jones, Jordan Semones, Raiden and Titus Downey; and three great-great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Oliver Bellman, and Evelyn Adams. She is preceded in death by her father Samuel Neal Wood, mother Dola Powell Blackwell Clark, step-father Huey Clark, brother Lew Edward Wood, and great-grandson Braylon Semones. Joann loved the LORD and her family deeply. She was passionate about praying for her family, loved ones, friends, and anyone she knew that needed prayer. She worked for Butternut Bread Company for many years, and retired from the Cabinet of Health and Family Services as an Administrative Specialist. Her passion for tracking and reporting weather conditions to her family earned her the affectionate title of “Motherologist”. Some of Joann’s favorite things included bowling, traveling, the beach, and bird-watching. She was an avid fan of the UK Wildcats and Al Green. Service times for visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 6:00 PM. Pastor Scott Patton of The Unity of the Faith Church will officiate the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
