Judy Allen

Judy Loraine McKaig Allen, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. She had been in the hospital for nearly a month after suffering a serious health incident. Judy was born in Chickamauga, Georgia on December 25, 1944, and spent her entire life proud of being a Christmas baby. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of fifty-four years, Dennis Allen; her parents, Ruth McKaig and Leonard and Helen McKaig; her son, Dennis Allen II; her sister Janice Marcella McKaig, and her brother Lester “Butch” McKaig. She is survived by her daughters, Tami Stetler (Jeff) and Angela Fergusson (James); grandsons, Brandon Howard, Todd Stetler, and Lee Fergusson; and five remaining siblings, one of which, John McKaig (Robyn), she and her husband raised for a time when he was young and they were first married, and whom they very much grew to think of like a son. Judy also leaves behind her and her husband’s best and most loyal companion, Chewy, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews she loved dearly. Judy worked hard all her life, holding jobs beginning as a teenager, but once she graduated high school and finished her accounting courses at Kentucky State University, she began working as the secretary and bookkeeper at Bridgeport Elementary School. Judy retired after nearly thirty years of dedicated service to the school, the staff, and most importantly, to the thousands of children that passed through the school doors, as they were the part of her job she truly loved. She enjoyed reading, shopping, visiting the beach, and most enjoyed time spent with family. She and her husband enjoyed countless hours attending school, sports, and other events, first traveling to, supporting, and cheering on their daughters, and then doing the same for their grandsons. Nothing gave them more pride or pleasure. Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, and co-worker, and she will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at First Church of God, 1029 Burlington Lane, Frankfort, at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
