Lenna Cox

Lenna Cox Frankfort- Services for Lenna Hardy Cox, 93 yrs., of Frankfort, will be conducted from Highland Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009. Dr. Glenn Birkett will officiate. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. She died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Cardinal Hills Rehabilitation Center, Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, following an injury related illness. A native of Estill Co., she was born, September 1, 1915 to James and Mary Elizabeth Stacy Hardy. She was the eighth of ten children. She later moved to Frankfort in 1938 at the time of her marriage to Raymond Price Cox, Jr. She was a homemaker for her family for many years. She also taught 4-H and served as a Scout Leader. Mrs. Cox was a past member of Franklin Co. Homemakers Club. In 1972, she became a nurse�s aide for Dr. Howard and Dr. Cowherd. At the age of 81, she proudly achieved her GED. She tutored at Thornhill Community Center where she was the recipient of the Golden Rule Award. She was a charter member of Highland Christian Church where she was an active member of The Sunshine Girls and the CWF. Mrs. Cox also served for many years as a deacon and elder. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Brenda (Ron) Herron and Paula (Tim) Wylie, both of Frankfort; and two grandchildren, Brian (Dean) Wylie, Taylor Mill, KY and Katie (Jodie) Snodgrass, Lexington, KY. She was the widow of Raymond Price Cox, Jr. Mrs. Cox was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Hubert, Homer, Robert, Garrett, and Roy Hardy and sisters, Stella Thomas, Sue Cox, Kate Witt, and Myrtle Sparks. Pallbearers will be Bill Baker, Ray Leathers, Simeon Parker, Mike Perry, George Quire, and Bill Whitaker. Honorary bearers will be Jim Woosley, Jamie Woosley, Kenneth Hardy, Randall Hardy, Fred Hackney, Mike Benge, Chris Benge, David Kennedy, Aubrey Miller, Jeremy Miller, Bernie Baker, and The Sunshine Girls. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Cox to Highland Christian Church, Versailles Rd., Frankfort, KY 40601.
