Marian Howard

Marian Whitworth Williams Howard, 91, departed family and friends, Tuesday, February 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Earl Maxwell Howard, Sr. and daughter, Elizabeth Ann Howard Smith. Born August 20th 1920, Frankfort KY, she was the only child of Marian Moore Williams Reister and Benjamin Gardner Williams, Jr. Residing in Lexington KY during her final years, she had been a long time resident of the Cloverdale neighborhood, Frankfort KY for 52 years. She leaves behind many wonderful memories, kind neighbors, and best friends there. She was a 1938 graduate of Frankfort High School and attended Georgetown College. She was a retired employee of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Revenue, with prior years being employed by Stagg Distillery, Frankfort KY. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Ann St, Frankfort KY, Kentucky Public Retirees, Daughters of the American Revolution, Frankfort Chapter, Lifetime Member of the Order of Eastern Stars Hiram Chapter # 93, Frankfort KY, The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, Frankfort Business and Professional Women�s Club serving as President 1977 and Honorary Chairwoman of the Democratic Party 1982. Devoted Mother to five children, survivors include Christopher Howard (Virginia) Frankfort KY, and Earl Maxwell Howard, Jr. (Dara Lee) North Port FL, Marian H. McGuire (Michael F.) Lexington KY, and Priscilla H. Brooks (Thomas W., Jr.) Lexington KY; Son in Law Jim Smith, Manahawkin NJ. Nine Grandchildren, Courtney Howard-Squire, San Francisco CA, Christian Stracer Howard, Anaheim CA (Cynthia), Lora Howard Detwiler, Frankfort KY, John Earl "Jes� Smith, Manahawkin NJ, James Howard Smith, Honolulu HI, Carrie McCord, Kathleen Colliver, Donald R. Wainscott, II, all of Lexington KY, and David E. McGuire, Simpsonville KY. Seven Great Grandchildren include Christian Howard, Dillan Howard, Ian Mullins-Smith, Max T. McCord, Victoria Colliver, Linley Colliver, and Colton Detwiler. Additional relatives include many nephews, nieces and cousins whom she loved and was proud to call family. Pall Bearers will be family members Donald R. Wainscott, II, Thomas W. Brooks, Jr., Brandon C. Colliver, Robert McCord, David E. McGuire, and Earl M. Howard, Jr., and Chris Howard. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Mary Helen Moore, Robert Stephens, Pat & Bobby Cole, Jim, Jes and James Smith, Ian Mullin-Smith, Stracer Howard. Visitation will be Thursday March 8th from 4 to 7 pm at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Frankfort KY. A service by the Order of Eastern Stars Hiram Chapter # 93 will be conducted at 6:30 pm. Graveside services and Entombment will be at the family Thomas Mausoleum, Paris Cemetery, Paris KY, Friday March 9th at 1 pm. Reverend Dr. John Opsata, First Christian Church, Frankfort KY will officiate. Flowers are welcomed, while contributions are encouraged to the First Christian Church, Frankfort Senior Citizens, Hospice of the Bluegrass or American Cancer Society.
