Robert Estill Combs

Frankfort " Robert Estill "Bobby� Combs, was born December 15, 1933 in Franklin County to the late William Taylor and Millie Carter Combs. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Green Hill Baptist church, where he served as a Trustee. He attended Rosenwald. Elementary School and graduated from Mayo-Underwood High School. He served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Russell-Watson Post 9235. He was retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was an avid reader and enjoyed western books. He loved sports and was a proud #1 fan of the Dallas Cowboys. His other favorite teams were the LA Dodgers and the University of Louisville Cardinals. He was a kind, loving, man of God. Bobby loved his family and helped in the raising of his younger siblings and nieces and nephews. He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Flora Campbell, Charles Combs, Sr., Anna E. Davis, James Combs, Geneva Craig and Maggie Combs. He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters, Mary E. Miles and Dorothy McGowan; companion Georgia Simmons and step-son, George Simmons. Nieces, Susan Campbell, Pamela Graham, Viembre Nicholson, Anita Collins, Annyette Fleming, Marcia Lynette McNear and Lyla Pryor. Nephews, Robert Campbell, Donald Campbell, Charles Combes, Jr., William Kenneth Ellis, Eric Miles, Phillip Combs, Michael Craig; along with cousins, friends, and a devoted friend, Danny Clay. Services for Mr. Combs will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mikel Robinson presiding. Rev. Donald Townsend will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Bean, Frank Bush, Danny Clay, Norm Grissom, Sam Lofton and David McGrapth. Honorary will be Roy Townsend, Gene Howard, Anthony Jones, Sr., Arthur Jones, Jr., John Irving Redding, Robert Redding, George Simmons, Ike Yett, J.D. Smith, Fred Agyeman, Charles Robinson, Robert Robinson and Murray ''Buzzy'' Berry. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
