Robert S. Lancaster

Frankfort - Memorial services for Robert Spalding Lancaster, Jr., 84, will be conducted from Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 5pm Tuesday, November 17, 2015, with Reverend William Hartung officiating. Family and friends will be received Tuesday at the funeral home beginning at 4pm. Committal service at Frankfort Cemetery will be Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at 10am. Mr. Lancaster passed away Thursday at Golden Living Center, Frankfort. Bob was born in Beaumont, TX, on December 9, 1930, to the late Robert Spalding and Monnie R. Samuels Lancaster Sr. He was a 1950 graduate of Frankfort High School, a member of SAE Fraternity, and an Alumni of the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict and later retired from the Department of Commerce. He attended the Church of the Ascension before becoming a member of South Frankfort Presbyterian Church. While his health permitted, Bob was an avid golfer seen regularly on the course at the Frankfort Country Club. He had the greatest smile and will best be remembered for his sense of humor. He is survived by his loving spouse of 19 years, Barbara Olds Lancaster; sons, Robert Spalding Lancaster III (Roseanne), MS, and Thomas Porter Lancaster, Lexington; daughter, Elizabeth Shannon Lancaster; grandchildren, Robert Spalding Lancaster IV, TX, and Luke S. Purvis; brother, Jack Lancaster; sister, Ann Lancaster; stepson, Michael Warren Olds; stepdaughter, Cheryl Olds Cheek (Michael Thomas); step grandchildren, Matthew W. Olds, Robert C. Olds (Yi), Rachel Olds, Daniel T. Cheek, and Sarah Cheek Gregory (Jeremy); two special, step, great grandchildren, Madison N. Cheek and Jacob T. Cheek. Bob also leaves behind many special, loving friends too numerous to mention. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Nancy Shofner Lancaster.
