Robert Mason

Frankfort "Robert "Bob� Mason went to be with the Lord Saturday, December 20th at 7:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was the son of the late Winfred and Frances (Poteet) Mason. He was born in Owen County, Ky., November 16, 1940, but lived most of his life in Frankfort, Ky. He was preceded in death by his only daughter, Leslye Ann (Mason) Robertson and a brother, Phillip Wayne Mason. He is survived by his wife, Judy (Parker) Mason; sister, Virginia Ann (Bucky) Combs; one beloved granddaughter; Hannah Robertson; son-in-law, Allan Robertson; brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and DeAnna Parker; and several nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from Owen County High School and attended the University of Kentucky where he studied engineering. He served 6 years in the US Army and was a retired engineer with state government, Departments of Transportation, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection where he served 35 years. He was a real estate agent and building contractor for several years and served 17 years on the Frankfort Planning and Zoning Board. He participated in numerous clubs and organizations and volunteer work throughout the years. He loved traveling and was employed with Shockey Tours, Louisville as a coach driver. He loved to winter in Florida and play golf. He enjoyed life, family and friends. Bob was a member of Memorial Baptist Church for 40 years where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, building committees and served on in town and out of state mission trips. He was currently attending Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church. Harrod Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 22nd and the funeral on Tuesday, December 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Dwight D. Parker, Rev. Chuck Beigle and Rev. Todd Lester will officiate. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by members of VFW Post 4075. Bearers will be nephews, Jordan Parker, Chris Mason and Tim Combs; friends, Milton Whitehouse, Don McCormick, Bob Tipton, David Games, Jim Lamb, William Durrett Jr., William Durrett III, Howard Dawson, Steve Dawson, Jerry Marshall, Billy Reinle and David Collins. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
