Sally L. McNicol

Frankfort - Sally Lind McNicol was born July 25, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky and adopted by Charles L. Roser, MD and Margaret “Sunshine” Roser. She passed away in her home in Frankfort, KY at the age of 79 on November 27, 2025. She was preceded in death by Charles L Roser, MD, Margaret Elizabeth Roser, her sister Susan, L. Roser, and her husband, James Campbell McNicol. Sally is survived by her loving daughters Elisabeth (Jacob) Wilson, and Katherine McNicol (Randall Adams). As well, as her treasured grandchildren: Lanon Hutcherson, Colin Wilson, Olivia Drane, and Myles Wilson. Sally was cherished for her dynamic personality, her sense of adventure, and her deep love of art and history. With her radiant smile and contagious laughter, she was adored by all who knew her. One of Sally’s greatest joys was captivating others with the stories of her wild and unforgettable adventures. Sally lived a life rich in experience, curiosity, and courage. A Louisville debutante, she attended school at Sacred Heart Academy, followed by convent school in Wisconsin, and was a graduate of Stratford College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in art history with a minor in ceramics. Her competitive nature made her a force on the field hockey pitch as both a high school and collegiate athlete. Sally’s adventurous spirit carried her far beyond the classroom—she backpacked through Europe, indulged her love of shopping in Italy, and even traveled cross-country by motorcycle. She was a member of the Pendennis Club and served on the board of directors for the Louisville Ballet Company. A three-time cancer survivor, Sally faced every challenge with strength and tenacity. She was also a horse owner and enthusiast who never passed up the pleasure of a good glass of Glenlivet Scotch. Sally loved her Wednesday night dinners, watching Jeopardy with her family, and attending her grandchildren’s events. She was never without a beloved furry companion, each one cherished and treated as part of the family. You could find her any time of day on her porch, reading and likely daydreaming of her toes in the sands of Key West. Sally passed peacefully on Thanksgiving morning, with her faithful canine companion by her side. Pallbearers will be Jacob Wilson, Lanon Hutcherson, Colin Wilson, Randall Adams, Robert McNicol, and Jeff McNicol. Honorary pallbearers are Matt Hutcherson and Myles Wilson. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to LIFE House for Animals. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
