William Henry Johnson

William Johnson Frankfort- William H. Johnson, 79, went to be with our Lord on June 13, 2009 after an illness. He was born November 16, 1929 to the late Edna (Johnson) Yount and the late Morton Johnson, both of Frankfort. William is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Edith Mitchell Johnson, four daughters, Connie Miller, Vicky (Gerald) Slucher, Tammi Tracy, Robin Chambers and two step-daughters, Phyllis (Larry) Burnette and Charlene (Huett) Tipton, all of Frankfort; eleven grandchildren, Melody Games, Jeremy Slucher, Joseph (Ada) Slucher, Cristy (William) Quire, Stephanie Newton, Ivy Newton, Reanna Meyrovich, Melanie (Shaun) Chapman, Mark Hockensmith, Amy (Tommy) McCann and Zachary Tipton, all of Frankfort; sixteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Edna Johnson Yount, Morton Johnson and his step-father, Thomas Yount and his daughter, Wanda Faye Johnson. In 1958, he joined the United States Marine Corps and fought in the Korean War. He was a talented carpenter/builder, truck driver and an entrepreneur. In 1974, he and his wife (Edith Johnson) founded and operated William H. H. Johnson Moving and Storage Company until 1990 when they retired and moved to Florida, where William spent a lot of his days fishing which was one of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed sharing life stories with everyone he met. He was always willing to give his time and talent to the good of the Lord and was a great husband and father. He was a member of Fellowship Church in Englewood, Florida and attended West Frankfort Church of God and Leestown Gospel Church in Frankfort. Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson will be Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with burial following at Frankfort Cemetery. Rev. Wade Hughes will officiate the service. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2009, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The pallbearers are Larry Burnette, Huett Tipton, Robert Hulette, Mark Hockensmith, William Quire and Zachary Tipton. Honorary bearers are his grandchildren. Military honors will be observed at the graveside by VFW Post 4075. Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy may be made to West Frankfort Church of God, Hawkeegan Dr., Frankfort, Ky 40601.
