Robert Ellis Lewis

Robert (Bobby) Ellis Lewis Jr., 65, went to be with his Heavenly Father Tuesday, May 17, 2011, after fighting a battle with Alzheimer�s disease. Remaining behind is Bobby�s wife of 37 years, Mae Belle Woods Lewis, 3 sons Kenneth Wayne Smither, Robert Allen Lewis and Robert Scott Smither (Renee`), 5 grandchildren, Bobby Scott Smither, Savannah Marie Lewis, Bailey Goodwin, Mathew Goodwin and Whitley Grace Smither, one great granddaughter, Kallie Elizabeth Thompson and special family Brock Muse. Although Bobby loved being with all his grandchildren, loved going to their ballgames, loved taking them on vacations with him, he had a very special bond with Bobby Scott that only Papaw & Bobby understood. Bobby was the son of the late Robert Ellis Lewis and Maggie Clark Lewis and the brother of Ronald Stewart (deceased) Lewis, William Marvin Lewis, Wilbert Lee Lewis and Maybell Lewis. He also leaves behind very special friends, Rev. Don & Martha West, Charles & Evelyn House and Ray & Pat Boyd. Bobby attended Peaks Mill School and did not graduate, but we celebrated with him when he completed his education and received his High School Diploma in May 1999. He was so proud and so were we. Bobby was devoted to his God, his family, his friends and his employer. He was a member of Frankfort First Assembly. He was also a former member of Holmes Street Church of God and Victory Chapel Church where he held positions of Sunday School Superintendent and Board Member. Bobby was about 17 years old when he started working in construction for CC Moore. A coworker formed his own company, Hazlett & Bond Construction and Bobby went with him. He worked for the Frankfort Sewer Board for 3 years and then the Frankfort Plant Board which he retired from in 2005. He was also a former member of the Frankfort Civitan Club and enjoyed being a part of helping those less fortunate than him. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Dunbar officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome or expressions of sympathy in Bobby�s memory are suggested to the Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601. Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
