Bonnie Deck Hall

Frankfort - Services for Bonnie Deck Hockensmith Hall, 85, will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Frankfort, KY, with Dr. John Opsata officiating. Burial will follow at the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service. She died Friday, October 11, 2013, due to a long illness of Alzheimer''s and a brief illness of Cancer. Formerly of Hiawatha Trail, Miss Bonnie (as she was lovingly referred to at her assisted living apartment, The Lantern) retained her very loving, sweet and caring nature throughout it all. Raised in Peaks Mill, she was a native of Franklin County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Kirtley Mariah Hockensmith and Mayme Ellen Green Hockensmith. She graduated from Peaks Mill High School, Class of 1946. Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Joseph Hall with whom she had been married 59 years. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth M. Hockensmith, Kirtley M. Hockensmith, Jr. (Dorothy), William T. Hockensmith (Betty), Sandy H. Hockensmith (Rose). Survivors include: her daughters, Sandra Hall Carlton, Susan Hall Goddard (Tom) both of Frankfort; two stepsons, Ronald J. Hall (Eva) of Lexington, William T. Hall (Jean) of Lancaster; two sisters, Ann Nell Wiley (Harold) of Pewee Valley, Mary Lewis Penn (Lee) of Frankfort; nine grandchildren, Edie Jo McClellan, Michael Hall (Samantha), Jim Hall, Phillip Hall, William Carlton, John Carlton, Taylor Goddard (Lindsay) and Evan Goddard (Hillary Kell), Carl Perkins (Kathy), eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bonnie loved music, fishing, gardening, camping, wading and swimming in Elkhorn Creek, cooking, spending time with her family and helping others. During her high school years she was a cheerleader as well as the captain of the Peaks Mill Girls Volleyball Team. She was once named Frankfort''s Mother of the Year by WFKY radio. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Bonnie always found the time and energy to care for others in their hour of need. She is a current member of First Christian Church, Frankfort. Throughout her lifetime, she had also been a member of Peaks Mill Christian Church and was a charter member of Highland Christian Church. She also contributed to Millville Christian Church and to the St. Jude Children''s Hospital. Bonnie faithfully served and retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. During her 40 years of service with the same agency, the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, she held numerous positions including Executive Secretary to the Commissioner and to its Board of Directors. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: William Carlton, John Carlton, Taylor Goddard, and Evan Goddard alongside her nephews, Kenneth Butch Hockensmith and Sandy Skip Hockensmith. Bonnie''s family would like to express sincere gratitude to all staff of The Lantern, Senior Helpers, and to Hospice for their dedication, concern, support and care.
