Carolyn Dalton Tinsley

Frankfort - Mrs. Carolyn (Dalton) Tinsley, age 92, was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, October 12, 2024. A Memorial service will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Frankfort, Kentucky Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jimmy Patillo. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort, Kentucky. Carolyn was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on September 8, 1932, to the late Lula Rice and Wiley Dalton. Carolyn was a retired employee from Kentucky State Government (Department of Revenue). She was a faithful member of the New Life Church, Frankfort, Kentucky. Her relationship in Jesus Christ our Lord Savior was the most important thing to Carolyn. She had a special relationship with Him and an unwavering devotion. By her dedication she brought many of her family members to Christ. She was lovingly called our family “prayer warrior”. Her family knew that when she prayed, the Lord listened. We can only imagine her beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eyes when she was finally able to see Him in Heaven. Our family was so blessed to have had her as our matriarch. After her relationship with Our Lord, her family was her everything. She loved each and everyone in her own special way. One of her ways of showing her love was her cooking. She was known for her amazing homemade fudge and pumpkin bread that she made for her entire family every Christmas. Her delicious vegetable soup and “Cathy’s cake” which she named after her beautiful daughter was always part of our holiday traditions. She was also an amazing story teller. She had the ability to tell you a story and make you feel like you were there going through the experience with her. Sometimes she might be telling you the stories of her adventures of playing in the Frankfort Cemetery with her sister and cousins and you could see how much fun they had, but then again you might be with her going through the hardships she and her sister endured after losing their mother so early in their lives. With all her stories, we were so blessed that she shared them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bobby Earl Tinsley. Her beloved daughter, Cathy Jean (Thompson) Russ (Armond). Her sisters, Betty Leora (Dalton) Gartin and Brenda Florence (O’Nan) Parks and a brother, Albert Lee O’Nan, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Howard Thomas (Tom) Tinsley (Mary Julia) of Frankfort, Kentucky and Robert Wiley (Robby) Tinsley (Michelle) of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; Grandchildren, Donna Jean (Clark) Sullivan (Peter), of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Jason Thomas Tinsley (Lisa) of Frankfort, Kentucky and Nicholas Dalton Tinsley (Rebecca) of Louisville, Kentucky; Great-Grandchildren, Breana Cherae Ware, Kaylee Lynn Tinsley, Joshua Thomas Tinsley, Joseph Randall Tinsley, and Ryan Sullivan; Great-Great Grandchildren, Azariah Corinth Howard and Aziah Reign Howard. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, and in-laws whom she loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to New Life Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
