Harold Robinson

Frankfort- Allen “Harold” Robinson, 79, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026. Services will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Rusty Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harold was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on August 12, 1947, to the late Russell and Alice Robinson. Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a man who believed in family, community, and serving others. To those who knew him best, however, Harold was much more than the many titles he held throughout his life. He was someone people could count on, a familiar face in the community, and a man who left an impression on the lives of countless people. Harold dedicated 30 years of his professional life to IBM before retiring. But his desire to serve others extended well beyond his career. He served as a member of the Franklin County School Board and 20 years as the Franklin County 4th District Magistrate. His years of public service led to numerous leadership roles throughout Kentucky and the Democratic Party. He served as Chairman of the Franklin County Democratic Executive Committee and was a member of the Democratic State Central Committee. He served as chairman of the Franklin County Patton/Henry campaign and as a voting delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention. He served as President of the Kentucky Association of Counties, Treasurer of the Kentucky Magistrates Association, and President of the Kentucky Magistrates Association. He was the Director of Distilled Spirits for the Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control. Through each chapter of his career and public service, Harold remained committed to Franklin County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. His faith was also an important part of his life. Harold was a deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served his church with the same devotion that guided so much of his life. Those who knew Harold will remember his love for his family, his dedication to community, his willingness to help, and the many ways he touched their lives. His absence will be felt deeply, but the lessons he taught, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Robinson and Melissa Lawson (Michael); grandchildren, Alex Kropf (Kirstie), Alison Kropf, Brandi Whitaker (Nick), and Caroline Lawson; and great grandsons, Xander and Caleb. He is also survived by his siblings, Carole Ellis (Jerry), David Robinson (Linda), and Kathy Mangeot (Mike), along with many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Meece Robinson. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Robinson, Jordan Ellis, Justin Ellis, Trey Badgett, Jarrod Darnell, and Jimmy Harrod. Honorary pallbearers will be The Franklin County High School Class of 1965, Kevin Asante, and Keenan Manley. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Life House for Animals. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory.
