Frankfort " James Sutherland, age 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends on Sunday, June 19, 2016. Accepting Christ as his Savior, he left these earthly bounds to be with his Heavenly Father. Funeral Services for Mr. Sutherland will be conducted at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating, assisted by Rev. Wade Hughes. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. " 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the funeral home. Mr. Sutherland was born in Frankfort on December 19, 1936 to the late Lon and Gladys Jewel Wash Sutherland. He was the owner of Elkhorn Campground and a member of West Frankfort Church of God where he enjoyed church visitations. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and adored his dog, Gigi. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and "papaw.� He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Louise Smith Sutherland; by his son, Billy Ray Sutherland; by three brothers, Billy Scott Sutherland, Leon Sutherland and Herman Sutherland; and by his two sisters, Peggy Conway and Joyce Story. He is survived by his two sons, Mike Sutherland and Bo (Barbie) Sutherland and by his two daughters, Kathy (Phillip) Marshall and Sandra (James) Sallee, all of Frankfort; by his brothers, Tony Sutherland and Dwayne Sutherland, both of Frankfort and Melvin Sutherland of Versailles. He was also blessed with his grandchildren, Chris Marshall, Crystal (Matt) Brooks, Nickie (Chris) Sutherland, Michael (Christina) Sutherland, Jr., Abbey and Abrianna Sutherland, and Monicah Sallee and by his great-grandchildren, Casey, Kayleigh, and Cameron Marshall, Logan and Aliyah Brooks, Maddie Tincher, Bailee Goins, Haylie, Lillian and Taylor Sutherland. Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Marshall, Michael Sutherland, Jr., James Sallee, Phillip Marshall, Matt Brooks and Gary (J.B.) Smith. The family acknowledges with great appreciation the care given by Janet, Patsy and Stephanie to Mr. Sutherland.
