Maxine Comley

Frankfort - Services for Maxine Harding Comley, 93, wife of the late Robert Parker Comley, will be conducted from Highland Christian Church at 10:30 am Monday, December 21, 2015, with Dr. Scott Rollins officiating. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2-5pm at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Comley passed away December 16, 2015. Maxine was born June 21, 1922, in Lexington, KY to the late Robert and Jewel West Harding. She held degrees from Transylvania University, Kentucky State University, and the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Comley retired from Bridgeport Elementary after 24 years, where her career was highlighted by multiple nominations to the Franklin County All-Academic Team. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists and Phi Mu Sorority. Maxine was a member and dedicated organist at Highland Christian Church where she retired in 2009 after 50 years. She is survived by her children, Judy Comley Rhodes, ME, Robert H. Comley (Genie), GA, Jerry H. Comley (Mary Jo), Katherine Comley, Paul Comley (Barbara), and Pat Comley (Tammy); grandchildren, Robert Rhodes (Becky), James Rhodes (Jenna), Kim Conterio (Josh), Rebecca Comley, Max Comley, Eric Comley (Sara), Ashlye Comley, Kyle Comley, Parker Comley, Chris Comley, and Katlyn Comley; great grandchildren, Carys and Cailyn Rhodes, Addison Comley, Clara and Zoe Conterio, and Cash and Lynnin Comley; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of nearly 70 years and her parents, Mrs. Comley was preceded in death by daughters, Jeny Parker Comley and Cynthia Rose Comley; grandson, Robert Tyler Comley; and her sisters, Roberta H. Wells and Dorothy H. Byers. To honor Meemaw''s memory, her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers, while her granddaughters will be recognized as Honorary Pallbearers. Maxine''s family wishes to extend their appreciation for the care and compassion of the sisters and staff of Taylor Manor during her residency. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Comley are suggested to KSMA-Cindy Comley Scholarship, 6132 Liberty Rd, Columbia, KY 42728, or a charity of choice.
