Sarah "Isabelle" Thompson

Frankfort – Sarah Isabelle McMican Thompson, age 90, passed away at home on Friday, December 21, 2018. Services for Mrs. Thompson will be held at Peaks Mill Christian Church on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at Peaks Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at Peaks Mill Christian Church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mrs. Thompson was born in Marion, Kentucky, on March 17, 1928, to the late Milan D. and Nellie Irene Postlethweight McMican. She was united in marriage to James Jackson Smither Thompson, who also preceded her in death. She retired from the Federal Government Department of Fish Hatcheries after serving many years as a secretary. In addition, alongside her husband, she was a homemaker and farm wife for most of her life. As a godly woman, Mrs. Thompson was an active member of Peaks Mill Christian Church, and enjoyed attending Sunday school classes. With a love for her community, she was involved with many church activities and local organizations. Mrs. Thompson was blessed with a big heart, and gave an open invitation to all who wished to visit with her. With a nature for caring, loving, and providing, she was truly a mother to many. Above all, she loved her family, and was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her beloved children, Eddie Thompson (Marcella), Jackie Sue Phillips (Henry), Tommy Thompson (Marsha), and Randy Thompson (Judy); sister, Jackie Nell McMican; grandchildren, Ryan, Ben, David, Ross, and Drew Thompson, Melissa Milligan, Kate Greenwell, Lauren Hightower, Jennifer Quarles, and Jack and Will Phillips. She was also blessed with 28 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Keith and M.D.; sisters, Phyllis McMican and Mary Kearl; and by one grandson, Lloyd Edmond. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Peaks Mill Christian Church or Peaks Mill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home.
