Troy Lee Woody Sr. Frankfort- Services for Troy Lee Woody Sr., 87 yrs., of Twin Pines Ln., will be conducted from Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009. Chaplain Chuck Ellestad and Bro. Wesley Henry will officiate. Burial will follow at Elk Creek Cemetery, Spencer Co. Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday, March 30, 2009 from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. He died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his residence following an illness. A native of Bluefield, VA, he was born, November 11, 1921 and was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, 77th Signal Corps. from 1942 through 1945. He retired from Kentucky Department of Transportation after seventeen years of employment. Mr. Woody previously owned and operated Gulf Service Stations in Shelbyville and Frankfort. His hobbies included baking, gardening tomatoes, fishing and was a craftsman of beautiful woodworking. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Narvilla Chism Woody; his children, Carolyn Sue McGehee (Russell), Elk Creek, Ky, Christine Symons (Ron), Cocoa, Fl, Troy Lee Woody, Jr. (Rhonda) and Glenda Woody, both of Frankfort; step-children, Roger Shafar Bivens, and Jane Bryan (Phil), both of Frankfort, Carroll Dale Bivens, Taylorsville and Janice Dobson (Randall), Ankra, Turkey; his sister, Marie Smith, Morehead City, NC; three half-brothers and one half-sister, Rocky Gap, VA; sixteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Charlie Preston and Sylvia Ann Colston Woody. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katherine Eileen McRae, sister, Dorothy Cooch, brothers, Carl Woody, Oren Woody and Charles Woody. Pallbearers will be Brendon Woody, Rusty McGehee, Tommy McGehee, Roger Bivens, Carroll Bivens, Brian Stigers, Justin Baker and Larry Stigers Jr. Honorary bearers will be Russell McGehee, Quincy Sheets, Larry Stigers Sr., Phil Bryan, Randall Dobson, Hospice Team, Hospice of the Bluegrass, and Caregivers Margaret Whitlock and Georgia Bennett. Flowers are welcome, but expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass/Frankfort Office, 208 Steele St., Frankfort, Ky 40601. Military honors will be observed at the graveside by VFW Post 4075.
