Create Healing Experiences

Create Healing Experiences

In the depth of early grief, you might think that it would be ‘easier’ to just take care of things as simply – and as quickly –as possible. But easier – especially in this circumstance – simply isn’t better.

We suggest thinking about setting the stage for the future by giving your family and friends the opportunity to start the healing process. This process can begin by gathering together at one time, in memory of you.

Understanding the Value in Funeral Processions

Understanding the Value in Funeral Processions

When you think of funeral processions; long rows of cars, flashing lights, and stopping for respect come to mind. However, processions are more than just that - loved ones accompanying a decedent on their final journey as the body is transported from the funeral home to the cemetery, while those in our community show signs of respect is one last service and honor we can provide to them. We consider this to be an important part of the grieving process.

What is the history of a Procession? It is believed that the Egyptians were the first to honor loved ones with funeral processions. Of course, at this time vehicles were non-existent. Therefore, the Egyptians, and later on Greeks and Romans, would carry their loved one followed by a massive gathering of friends, family, and community members, from the place of worship and mourning, to the final resting place. Symbolic Significance

Accompanying the decedent in their final journey can help people with the grieving process. Per Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, Director, Center for Loss & Life Transition, driving in a procession often results in a sense of meaning and purpose for the participants. Their grief moves in unison and solidarity. Often their feelings inside are weighty and somber, and the weighty and somber movements of the procession expresses their internal reality. Mourning in internal grief expressed externally, and it is essential to healing. The procession is a form of mourning.

Many experts agree that a funeral procession has a positive and comforting impact on grief and can help people heal. Unfortunately, many modern services skip this aspect because transporting all family members at the same time can be challenging for funeral staff. However, an experienced and compassionate establishment can help you make these arrangements combining logic with honor and establishing a safe, yet comforting venture to one's place of final rest.
